HEDAPEN
Database to disseminate statistics (User manual)
HEDAPEN is the
name with which the EUSTAT refers to the data dissemination system
introduced in 1994 and which is aimed at offering a better service
to people requesting statistical information, providing access to
this information through a common statistical information storage
and manipulation software product and thus extending dissemination,
previously only with the use of paper, to magnetic formats. With this
aim in mind, the EUSTAT chose the statistical dissemination software
PC-AXIS, developed by the Swedish Statistics Institute, as a computer
medium for HEDAPEN. The present version of PC-AXIS represents a great
advance and makes viewing and handling information much easier.

Information was collected on the Basque language
for the first time in 1981 and enabled the presentation of statistical
series and monitoring of the evolution of language capability over
the decade 1981-1991. In addition, this diachronic analysis may
be conducted with the maximum level of geographic detail required.
A comparative analysis has been carried out on a municipal level,
as a minimum unit of action, with regard to global language normalization.

time the Basque population and its different social groups spend daily
on each of the activities they carry out.

and housing statistics 1996. Basque I
This census operation
includes a huge amount of information related to the structure of
the population, in this case to Basque language.
Slightly over
half the population of the A.C. of Euskadi state that they have some
knowledge of Basque language. 60% of this group, representing 31%
of the total population, define themselves as Basque speakers.

Euroregion in figures
The statistical bodies of the regions that make up
the Euroregion "Aquitaine-Basque Country-Navarre", collaborated
to publish this practical trilingual booklet. It includes the essential
socio-economic indicators for each of the territories in the region.

an initial impression of the similarities, particularities and relative
position of each of the territories and their situation with regard
to the European Union.
