Industrial prices in the Basque Country fell by 0.3% in February 2025 compared to the previous month

Industrial prices recorded a 1.0% rise in relation to February 2024

Industrial prices in the Basque Country fell by 0.3% in February 2025 compared to the previous month, according to Eustat data. The year-on-year rate for February, which indicates the fluctuation in industrial prices over the last twelve months, recorded a 1.0% rise.

A more detailed analysis reveals that in February 2025, the sectors that recorded the most pronounced decreases in their prices compared to the previous month were: Electricity, Gas and Steam, with a drop of 2.5%; and Manufacture of Machinery and Equipment, down 1.3%; and Manufacture of Transport Material, which fell by 1.0%. In contrast, the sectors that experienced the greatest month-on-month increases in their prices were Food, Beverages & Tobacco Industry, up 1.5%; and Textile, Garments, Leather & Footwear, with a rise of 1.4%.

According to the classification of goods by economic destination, compared to January 2025, Energy prices decreased by 1.4% and prices of Capital Goods were down 0.8%. There was a 1.3% increase in prices of Consumer Goods, explained by the 1.7% rise in prices of Consumer Non-Durables and the 0.4% decrease in those of Consumer Durables. Finally, prices of Intermediate Goods rose by 0.2%.

In year-on-year terms, February 2025 on February 2024, the greatest increases in prices occurred within the branches of Water, up 5.5%; and Electricity, Gas & Steam, with a rise of 4.9%. By contrast, the prices that experienced a year-on-year decrease were in the branches of Coke Plants and Oil Refining, down 8.8%; and Rubber, Plastic and Other Non-Metallic Mineral Products, with a drop of 0.4%.

Price fluctuations in year-on-year terms for the large goods groups by economic destination was positive for Consumer Goods, which registered an increase of 3.7%; explained by the 3.7% rise in prices of Consumer Durables and the 3.6% increase in those of Consumer Non-Durables. Prices of Intermediate Goods were up 2.0%, and there was a 1.9% increase in those of Capital Goods. Lastly, Energy prices registered a year-on-year decrease of 3.9%.
