Over the period between Holy Week and Easter Saturday there were 69,983 entries by visitors at hotel establishments in the A.C. of the Basque Country, according to Eustat data. This figure represents 21% more visitor entries, that is to say, 12,000 more people than a year before.

The number of overnight stays came to 139,473 and was 22% greater, i.e. over 25,000 stays than during the same period in 2005.

The average stay per visitor at hotel establishments improved slightly on the previous figure, rising from 1.98 days per visitor a year before to 1.99 days this last Holy Week.

The level of occupancy by places was 4% higher than the level reached a year before. This index was 48.05% in 2005 and came to 51.83% in the same period in 2006.

Over the central days during Holy Week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) the level of occupancy by places came to 80%.

Agrotourism registered 5,083 visitor entries, 14% more than the same period in 2005. The number of overnight stays was 15,287, 12% more than a year before. The origin of this lower evolution of overnight stays on entries lies in the reduction in the average stay per visitor, which fell slightly from 3.8 days a year before to 3.01 days this Holy Week. The level of occupancy by places fell slightly by 0.4% at Agrotourism establishments , due mainly to a greater offer of places.
