Institutional units and sectors
Institutional units are economic units that are capable of owning goods and assets, incurring liabilities and participating in economic operations with other units in their own name. For the purposes of the SEC 2010 system, institutional units have been grouped into five national institutional sectors that are mutually exclusive:
A) Non-financial companies;
B) Financial institutions;
C) Public administrations;
D) Households;
E) Non-profit institutions servicing households.
These five sectors each make up the total national economy. Each sector in turn is divided into subsectors. The SEC 2010 system allows us to create a complete series of flow accounts and balance sheets for each sector and subsector for the whole economy.
The Accounts that appear in this section are solely the Production Account, the Operating Account and the Allocation of Primary Income Account.
The institutional sectors have also been aggregated according to the economy of the Basque Country.
