The Personal and Family Income Statistics operation records the income of people aged 18 or over resident in the Basque Country and produces figures such as Gross per capita Income or average personal income; it forms the basis for understanding the distribution of individual and family wealth, supported by taxation data, linked to census variables of the population. The breakdown of income according to population strata such as sex, age or relation to productive activity (unemployed, employed, retired population) facilitates a closer understanding of different groups at risk from poverty.
