OTHER MARKET SERVICES INDEX. II/2025
Sales in the Market Services sector in the Basque Country rose by 1.7% in the second quarter of 2025
Compared to the previous quarter, sales decreased by 1.1%
Sales in the Other Market Services sector in the Basque Country rose by 1.7% in the second quarter of 2025, compared to the same quarter of the previous year at constant prices and once calendar effects had been eliminated, according to Eustat data. This sector includes the services offered by the branches of Transport, Hospitality, Information & Communications and Corporate Services Activities.
Compared to the previous quarter, sales were down 1.1% in the second quarter of 2025, at constant prices and once corrected for seasonal effects.
Within the Other Market Services sector, the year-on-year evolution of sales increased by 5.5% in Hospitality, 2.6% in Transport & Storage and 1.5% in Administrative Activities & Auxiliary Services. In contrast, sales were down by 0.3% in the Professional, Scientific & Technical Activities sector, and by 2.1% in the Information & Communications sector.
In relation to the first quarter of 2025, there was a quarter-on-quarter increase in sales of 3.2% in Hospitality and 0.8% in Administrative Activities & Auxiliary Services. However, in Information and Communications and Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities sales were down 1.9% in quarter-on-quarter terms. Lastly, in the Transport & Storage sector, sales fell by 2.1% compared to the previous quarter.

During the second quarter of the year, sales performed positively in year-on-year terms in all three provinces. Growth in relation to the second quarter of 2024 stood at 5.3% in Álava, 1.5% in Bizkaia and 0.8% in Gipuzkoa. However, in relation to the previous quarter, sales increased by 0.7% in Álava, but in Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa sales decreased by 1.4% and 1.1% respectively.
The index of people employed in the Other Market Services sector in the Basque Country rose by 1.0% compared to the second quarter of 2024, and employment was up 0.4% compared to the first quarter of 2025.

Year-on-year variations are calculated using the series corrected for calendar effects, and the quarter-on-quarter variations are calculated using the deseasonalised series.
