SURVEY ON TOURIST ESTABLISHMENTS. Hotels. February 2025
In hotel establishments in the Basque Country in February 2025, visitor numbers increased by 4.9% and overnight stays were up 4.4%
The number of visitors from abroad increased by 4.6% giving rise to 4.1% more overnight stays
In February 2025, visitor numbers at hotel establishments in the Basque Country increased by 4.9% in year-on-year terms and overnight stays were up 4.4%, according to Eustat data. The 232,954 registered visitors gave rise to a total of 426,364 overnight stays.
Foreign tourists accounted for 33.6% of visitors and 35.3% of overnight stays, following increases of 4.6% in the case of visitors and 4.1% in that of overnight stays.

In Álava, there were 31,337 visitors and 65,600 overnight stays, 6.3% and 0.7% more than the previous February, respectively. In Bizkaia, 105,763 visitors were recorded in February 2025 (5.6% more than in February 2024) which gave rise to 193,245 overnight stays (7.1% more than in the same month of the previous year). In Gipuzkoa, visitor numbers rose by 3.7%, and overnight stays increased by 2.8%, with a total of 95,854 visitors and 167,519 overnight stays recorded.
By provincial capital, visitor numbers rose by 6.5% in Vitoria-Gasteiz, 5.6% in San Sebastián and 5.5% in Bilbao. Compared to February of the previous year, the number of overnight stays fell by 0.8% in Vitoria-Gasteiz and rose by 7.3% in Bilbao and 3.9% in San Sebastián.
The average length of stay in hotel establishments in the Basque Country during February 2025 was 1.83 days, slightly lower than that observed in the same month of the previous year (1.84 days). The average length of stay refers to the number of days that, on average, travellers remain in each of the establishments where they stay overnight, and not the total length of their stay in the Basque Country.

The occupancy rate for the Basque Country as a whole in February 2025 was 44.6% in the case of beds and 55.7% in that of rooms. This was an increase of 0.6 and 0.9 percentage points respectively, compared to February 2024.
The average daily rate (applied to a double room with a bathroom offered as room only accommodation), or ADR was 79.3 euros in February 2025 in the Basque Country, which was a drop of 4.0% in respect of the previous February. The ADR stood at 82.2 euros in Gipuzkoa, 80.5 euros in Bizkaia and 68.7 euros in Álava. By capital, values obtained for the ADR were: 91.8 euros in San Sebastián, 84.2 euros in Bilbao and 61.7 euros in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
The RevPar, or average revenue per available room in hotel establishments in the Basque Country in February 2025 was 44.2 euros, 5.7% higher than in the same month of the previous year.
