Construction Costs in the Basque Country rose by 2.7% in January 2025

In year-on-year terms, January 2025 compared to January 2024, prices increased by 1.9%

The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country rose by 2.7% in January 2025 in relation to the previous month, according to Eustat data. Costs increased by 1.9% compared to the same month of 2024.

Costs in the Building sector were up 2.7% and those in the Civil Engineering sector rose by 2.4%. In relation to January 2024, prices increased by 2.0% in Building and 1.6% in Civil Engineering.

Compared to the previous month, December 2024, costs of raw materials rose by 3.5%, and labour costs were up 0.4%. In year-on-year terms, costs of raw materials increased by 2.5%, while labour costs rose by 0.4%.

There was a month-on-month increase in the cost of raw materials of 3.6% in the Building sector and 3.1% in the Civil Engineering sector. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in the Building sector increased by 2.6% and those in Civil Engineering rose by 2.0%.

The prices of the main raw materials used by the Construction sector that recorded the greatest increases in January 2025 on January 2024 were those in the following subsectors: Manufacture of Electrical Material and Equipment, with an increase of 5.0% and Manufacture of metal products, except machinery and equipment, up 4.6%. In contrast, the cost of raw materials was down 2.8% in the Coke Plants and Oil Refining sector and 2.5% in the Manufacture of non-metallic minerals sector.
