Construction Costs in the Basque Country fell by 0.1% in December 2024

In year-on-year terms, December 2024 compared to December 2023, prices increased by 0.8%

The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country fell by 0.1% in December 2024 in relation to the previous month, according to Eustat data. Costs increased by 0.8% compared to the same month of 2023.

Costs in the Building sector were down 0.1% and those in the Civil Works sector fell by 0.2%. In relation to December 2023, prices increased by 0.9% in Building and by 0.5% in Civil Works.

Compared to the previous month (November 2024), costs of raw materials dropped by 0.2%, and labour costs remained constant. In year-on-year terms, costs of raw materials fell by 0.8%, while labour costs rose by 5.4%.

There was a month-on-month decrease in the costs of raw materials of 0.2% in both the Building and Civil Works sectors. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in the Building sector decreased by 0.7% and those of Civil Works were down 1.0%.

The prices of the principal raw materials used by the Construction sector that recorded the greatest decreases in December 2024 on December 2023 were those in the following subsectors: Coke Plants and Oil Refining, down 6.1% and Manufacture of Non-Metallic Mineral Products, with a 2.5% decrease. However, the cost of raw materials used in the Manufacture of Metal Products, excluding Machinery and Equipment sector increased by 0.8%.
