Activity in the Construction sector in the Basque Country grew by 5.2% in the first quarter of 2024
Civil Works increased by 2.1%, while Building was up 5.7%
At current prices, activity in the Construction sector in the Basque Country in the first quarter of 2024 was 5.2% higher than that observed in the same quarter of the previous year, according to Eustat data.
Once corrected for calendar effects, the year-on-year increase at current prices in this quarter is explained by the positive performance of both the Civil Works sub-sector, which experienced a rise of 2.1%, and the Building sub-sector, where growth in respect of the first quarter of 2023 was 5.7%.
Comparing the activity of the sector in this first quarter of 2024 with that of the previous quarter, the quarter of 2023, the Construction index increased by 0.8% in nominal terms or current prices, once corrected for seasonal effects. Activity increased by 0.4% in Civil Works in relation to the previous quarter and rose by 0.8% in Building.

Eustat. Construction index
In the first quarter of 2024, following a 0.4% decrease in relation to the previous quarter, the index of employed people was 0.3% below that observed in the same quarter of 2023.
