Activity in the Construction sector in the Basque Country grew by 5.9% in the third quarter of 2023
The Civil Works sector increased by 8.1% while the Building sector was up 5.5%
In current prices, activity in the Construction sector in the Basque Country in the third quarter of 2023 was 5.9% higher than that observed in the same quarter of the previous year, according to Eustat data.
Once corrected for calendar effects, the year-on-year increase at current prices in this quarter is explained by the positive performance of both Civil Works, which experienced a rise of 8.1% compared to the third quarter of 2022, and Building, where growth was 5.5%.
Comparing the activity of the sector in this third quarter of 2023 with that of the previous quarter, once corrected for seasonal effects, the Construction index increased by 0.7% in nominal terms or current prices. Activity in Civil Works fell by 2.9% compared to the previous quarter and that of Building was down 0.4%.

In the third quarter of 2023, following a 0.1% rise in relation to the previous quarter, the index of employed people was 0.6% above that observed in the same quarter of 2022.
BALANCE FOR THE FIRST THREE QUARTERS OF 2023
Activity in Construction closed the first three quarters of 2023 with a cumulative nominal increase of 7.3%. In this period, Civil works activity stood out, with a 13.2% increase in production, while activity in the Building sector also saw growth of 6.3%.
