Activity in the Construction sector in the Basque Country grew by 8.4% in the second quarter of 2022
In relation to the previous quarter, current prices were down 0.3%
Activity in the Construction sector in the Basque Country for the second quarter of 2022 was 8.4% higher in current prices than that of the same quarter of the previous year, according to Eustat data. Compared to the previous quarter, and once any seasonal effects had been eliminated, current prices in terms of activity fell by 0.3%.
The year-on-year upturn at current prices in this quarter is explained both by the behaviour of the Building sub-sector, which grew 6.3% in year-on-year terms, and, especially, that of Civil Works, which rose by 22.6% in the second quarter in relation to the previous year.
Comparing the activity of the sector in this second quarter of 2022 with that of the previous quarter, once corrected for seasonal effects, revealed a decrease of 0.3% in index, in nominal terms. Building showed a positive quarter-on-quarter evolution of 0.1%, while Civil Works fell by 2.8% in relation to the previous quarter.

Eustat. Construction index
The index of employed people in the second quarter of 2022, following a 0.5% increase in relation to the previous quarter, stood 1.8% above that observed in the second quarter of 2021.
CUMULATIVE TOTAL OF THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2022
The activity in the construction sector recorded a nominal rise of 8.2% in the accumulative total of the first quarter of 2022, with a notable increase in Civil Works (25.6%) and more moderate growth recorded in Building (5.9%).
The Index of employed people was up 2.1%.
