CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. APRIL 2022
Construction Costs in the Basque Country rose by 1.4% in April 2022
In year-on-year terms, April 2022 compared to April 2021, costs increased by 11.9%
There was a 1.4% increase in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in April 2022 compared to the previous month, according to EUSTAT data. In relation to the same month of the previous year, costs increased by 11.9%.
Costs in the Building sector increased by 1.4% in month-on-month terms, while those in the Civil Works sector were up 1.3%. In relation to April 2021, prices increased by 11.1% in the case of Building and 15.7% in that of Civil Works.
Compared to the previous month, March 2022, costs of raw materials rose by 1.8%, whereas labour costs remained stable (0.0%). In year-on-year terms, the cost of raw materials increased by 13.9% and labour costs rose by 5.8%.
The Building sector saw a month-on-month rise of 1.8% in the cost of raw materials and in the Civil Works sector the increase stood at 1.7%. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in Building increased by 12.8% and those in Civil Works were up 18.8%.

Prices of the raw materials consumed by the Construction sector that recorded the biggest increases in April 2022 on April 2021, are included in the following sectors: Electricity & Gas, with a rise of 71.8%; Oil Refining, up 61.9%; and Metallurgy, where costs increased by 36.5%. In contrast, the sectors with more moderate increases in the prices of their raw materials were: Manufacture of machinery, with an increase of 4.4%; Electrical Material up 5.1%; and Manufacture of Furniture, with a rise of 5.4%.
