CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. NOVEMBER 2021
Construction Costs in the Basque Country fell by 0.5% in November 2021
Costs increased by 4.4% in year-on-year terms.
The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country fell by 0.5% in November 2021 compared to the previous month, according to EUSTAT data. In relation to the same month of the previous year, November 2021 on November 2020, costs increased by 4.4%.
Costs in the Building sector decreased by 0.3% in month-on-month terms, while those in the Civil Works sector were down 1.3%. In relation to November 2020, prices increased by 4.1% in the case of Building and 5.7% in that of Civil Works.
Compared to the previous month October 2021, costs of raw materials fell by 0.7%, while labour costs remained stable (0.0%). In year-on-year terms, the cost of raw materials increased by 5.2% and labour costs rose by 1.9%.
The Building sector posted a month-on-month decrease of 0.4% in the cost of its raw materials. The Civil Works sector saw a drop of 1.7%. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in Building increased by 4.8% and those in Civil Works were up 6.9%.

The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases in November 2021 on November 2020, were: Oil refining, with 48.8%; Metallurgy, with 27.8%, and Electricity & Gas, with 21.3%. In contrast, the only sector that registered a decrease in its prices was Non-Metallic Minerals, which was down 1.1%.
