CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. OCTOBER 2021
Construction costs in the Basque Country rose by 0.6% in October 2021 in respect of the previous month
Costs increased by 5.0% in year-on-year terms.
The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country rose by 0.6% in October 2021 compared to the previous month, according to Eustat data. In relation to the same month of the previous year October 2021 on October 2020, costs increased by 5.0%.
Costs in the Building sector increased by 0.5% in month-on-month terms, while those in the Civil Works sector were up 1.2%. In relation to October 2020, prices increased by 4.5% in the case of Building and 7.1% in that of Civil Works.
Compared to the previous month, September 2021, costs of raw materials rose by 0.8%, whereas labour costs remained stable (0.0%). In year-on-year terms, costs of raw materials increased by 6.0%, while labour costs rose by 1.9%.
The Building sector posted a month-on-month increase of 0.6% in the cost of its raw materials. The Civil Works sector, for its part, saw a rise of 1.6%. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in Building increased by 5.3% and those in Civil Works were up 8.8%.
All prices of raw materials consumed by sector have registered increases in October 2021 on October 2020, with the following sectors standing out: Oil refining, with 51.4%; Metallurgy, with 25.8%, and Electricity & Gas, with 20.2%. Among those sectors that posted lower prices increases were: Rubber and Plastics, with a rise of 1.5%; Manufacture of machinery, which increased its prices by 2.3%; and Non-Metallic Minerals, up 2.6%.
