CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. SEPTEMBER 2021
Construction costs in the Basque Country rose by 0.6% in September 2021 in respect of the previous month
In relation to the same month of the previous year September 2021 on September 2020, costs increased by 3.8%
The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country rose by 0.6% in September 2021 compared to the previous month, according to Eustat data. In year-on-year terms, costs increased by 3.8%.
Costs in the Building sector increased by 0.4% in month-on-month terms, while those in the Civil Works sector were up 1.5%. In relation to September 2020, prices increased by 3.6% in the case of Building and 4.9% in that of Civil Works.
Compared to the previous month, August 2021, costs of raw materials rose by 0.8%, whereas labour costs remained stable (0.0%). In year-on-year terms, costs of raw materials increased by 4.4%, while labour costs rose by 1.9%.
The Building sector posted a month-on-month increase of 0.5% in the cost of its raw materials. The Civil Works sector, for its part, saw a rise of 1.9%. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in Building increased by 4.1% and those in Civil Works were up 5.8%.
Among the prices of raw materials consumed by sector that registered the greatest increases in September 2021 on September 2020, the following sectors stood out: Oil Refining, with an increase of 40.4%; Metallurgy, up 31.9%; and Timber and Cork, with a rise of 9.8%. The only sector that posted a year-on-year reduction in its prices was Non-Metallic Minerals, where they fell by 0.2%.
