CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. APRIL 2021
Construction costs in the Basque Country fell by 0.7% in April 2021 compared to the previous month
Compared to the same month of the previous year, April 2021 on April 2020, costs increased by 0.5%
There was a 0.7% decrease in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in April 2021 compared to the previous month, according to EUSTAT data. Costs increased by 0.5% in year-on-year terms.
Costs in the Building sector decreased by 0.6% in month-on-month terms and those in the Civil Works sector by 1.5%. In relation to April 2020, for its part, the fluctuation in prices was positive, up 0.6% in the case of Building and 0.1% in that of Civil Works.
Compared to the previous month, costs of raw materials decreased by 1.0% whereas labour costs remained stable (0.0%). In year-on-year terms, in the case of raw materials there was no variation (0.0%), whereas labour costs rose by 1.9%.
In April 2021, the Building sub-sector posted a month-on-month decrease of 0.8% in the cost of raw materials and the Civil Works sub-sector a fall of 1.9%. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in Building increased by 0.1%, whereas in Civil Works they fell by 0.4%.
The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that registered the greatest increases in April 2021 on April 2020, included those in the following sectors: Oil Refining, with an increase of 40.3%; Metallurgy, up 15.0%; and Electronic Material, with a rise of 4.9%. In contrast, those sectors with reductions in prices were: Non-Metallic Minerals, which decreased by 6.8%; Manufacture of machinery, down 1.4%; and Rubber and Plastics, with a drop of 0.4%.
