CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. JANUARY 2021
Construction costs in the Basque Country rose by 1.5% in January 2021 with respect to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, January 2021 on January 2020, costs increased by 1.4%
The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country rose by 1.5% in January 2021 compared to the previous month. In year-on-year terms, costs have increased by 1.4% according to Eustat data.
Compared to the previous month, costs of raw materials increased by 1.4%, while labour costs rose by 1.9%.
In January 2021, the Building sub-sector posted a month-on-month rise of 1.4% in the cost of raw materials and the Civil Works sub-sector an increase of 1.7%. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in Building increased by 1.7%, whereas in Civil Works they fell by 0.4%.
The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases in January 2021 on January 2020, included those in the following sectors: Electronic Material, with an increase of 6.6%; Metallurgy, up 5.5%; and Electrical Material with a rise of 2.7%. In contrast, those sectors with reductions in prices were: Oil Refining, with a drop of 15.6%, Machinery, which fell by 4.2% and Electricity & Gas, with a decrease of 2.8%.
