CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. FEBRUARY 2021
Construction costs in the Basque Country fell by 0.6% February 2021 in respect of the previous month
Compared to the previous year February 2021 on February 2020, costs increased by 0.4%
The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country fell by 0.6% in February 2021 in respect of the previous month. In year-on-year terms, costs have increased by 0.4% according to Eustat data.
Compared to the previous month, costs of raw materials decreased by 0.7% whereas labour costs remained unchanged (0.0%).
In February 2021, the Building sub-sector posted a month-on-month decrease of 0.6% in the cost of raw materials and the Civil Works sub-sector a drop of 1.3%. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in Building increased by 0.4%, whereas in Civil Works they fell by 2.4%.
The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases in February 2021 on February 2020 included those in the following sectors: Metallurgy, up 6.5%; Electronic Material, with an increase of 5.7%; and Electrical Material, which rose by 2.4%. In contrast, those sectors with reductions in prices were: Oil Refining, with a drop of 4.6%, Non-Metallic Minerals, which fell by 4.5% and Electricity & Gas, with a decrease of 2.1%.
