Construction costs in the Basque Country rose by 0.8% in December 2020 compared to the previous month
In relation to December 2019 costs increased by 0.9%
The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country rose by 0.8% in December 2020 compared to the previous month, November 2020, according to EUSTAT data. In year-on-year terms, December 2020 compared to December 2019, costs increased by 0.9%.
Compared to the previous month, costs of raw materials increased by 1.0% whereas labour costs remained unchanged (0.0%).
In December 2020, the Building sub-sector posted a month-on-month increase of 0.8% in the cost of raw materials and the Civil Works sub-sector a rise of 1.8%. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in Building increased by 1.1%, whereas in Civil Works they fell by 1.0%.
The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases in December 2020 on December 2019, included those in the following sectors: Electronic Material, with an increase of 5.2%; Metallurgy, up 2.4%; and Electrical Material with a rise of 1.5%. In contrast, standing out among those sectors with reductions in prices were: Oil Refining, down 20.5%, Machinery, with a decrease of 3.2%, and Electricity & Gas, which dropped 2.9%.
