CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. FEBRUARY 2020
Construction costs in the Basque Country rose by 0.5% in February 2020 compared to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, February 2020 on February 2019, costs increased by 2.0%
There was a 0.5% rise in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in February 2020 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month rose by 2.0%, according to EUSTAT data.
Compared to the previous month, costs of raw materials rose by 0.7% whereas labour costs remained unchanged (0.0%).
In February 2020, both the Building and Civil Works subsectors posted a month-on-month rise in the cost of their raw materials of 0.7%. The year-on-year trends in these two sub-sectors also saw positive variations, given that costs of raw materials in Building were up by 1.9% and costs in Civil Works posted a 2.9% rise.
The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases in February 2020 on February 2019 included those in the following sectors: Non-metallic Minerals, up 6.4%;Electronic Material, with an increase of 3.6%; and Electrical Material, which rose 1.7%. In contrast, the sectors with reductions in prices of raw materials, were: Oil Refining, down 5.8%, Machinery, with a decrease of 2.6%, and Non-metal Industry, which dropped 1.9%.
