CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. DECEMBER 2019
Construction costs in the Basque Country rose 0.1% in December 2019 compared to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, December 2019 on December 2018, costs rose by 2.2%
There was a 0.1% rise in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in December 2019 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month rose by 2.2%, according to EUSTAT data.
With regards to the previous month, labour costs remained unchanged (0.0%) and costs of raw materials increased by 0.1%.
In December 2019, the Building sub-sector posted a month-on-month rise of 0.1% in the cost of raw materials and the Civil Works sub-sector an increase of 0.5%. The year-on-year performance in both these two sub-sectors was positive, since costs of raw materials in Building rose by 2.0%, and costs in Civil Works posted a 3.1% rise.
The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases in December 2019 on December 2018, included those in the following sectors: Oil Refining, with an increase of 11.1%; Non-metallic Minerals, up 3.4%; and Electronic Material with a rise of 3.0%. In contrast, the sectors with reductions in prices of raw materials, were: Metallurgy, down 1.7%; and Chemical Industry, with a drop of 1.2%.
