The Construction sector in the Basque Country grew by 3.3% in the third quarter of 2019

The accumulated total for the year showed 5.4% growth

Construction activity in the Basque Country registered a year-on-year nominal upturn of 3.3% in the third quarter of 2019, in homogeneous terms of the working calendar, according to data prepared by EUSTAT.

The rise in the Construction sector in this quarter was due to the positive performance of both the Building subsector, which registered a year-on-year upturn of 3.1%, and the Civil Works subsector, with an increase of 4.7%.

Once corrected for seasonal effects, the Construction sector was up by 0.2% in the third quarter of 2019 compared to the second quarter of the same year.

In quarter-on-quarter terms, if the activity of the sector in the third quarter of 2019 is compared to the previous quarter, the Building subsector saw a 0.3% upturn, whereas the Civil Works subsector posted a decrease of 0.7%.

For the accumulated period of the first three quarters of 2019, the Basque Country Construction sector was up 5.4% on the same period of 2018.

Employment in the Construction sector saw a decrease of 0.2% in the third quarter of 2019 compared to the second quarter of 2019.
