CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX, OCTOBER 2018
Construction costs in the Basque Country fell by 0.2% in October 2018 compared to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, October 2018 on October 2017, costs rose by 2.3%
There was a 0.2% drop in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in October 2018 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month rose by 2.3%, according to data provided by EUSTAT.
With regards to the previous month, there was no variation in labour costs (0.0%) and the cost of raw materials dropped by 0.3%.
Within raw materials, the Building subsector fell by 0.3% compared to the previous month, and the Civil Works subsector recorded a decrease of 0.2% in the cost of its raw materials. The year-on-year performance of these two sub-sectors was positive, but to different degrees: costs of raw materials in Building rose by 2.1%, whilst costs in Civil Works posted a 4.4% increase.
Standing out amongst the prices of raw materials consumed by the sector that recorded the biggest increases, October 2018 on October 2017, are those in the following sectors: Oil refining, with 23.0%; Metallurgy, with 5.5% and Chemical Industry with 3.2%. On the other hand, the sectors that saw decreases or the smallest increases in the prices of raw materials over the last twelve months were Rubber and Plastic with a decrease of 0.2%, Electronic Material, which was up 0.4% and Electrical Material, with an increase of 0.7%.
