CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX, SEPTEMBER 2018
Construction costs in the Basque Country rose 0.1% in September 2018 compared to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, September 2018 on September 2017, costs rose by 2.2%
There was a 0.1% rise in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in September 2018 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month rose by 2.2%, according to EUSTAT data.
With regards to the previous month, there was no variation in labour costs (0.0%) and the cost of raw materials rose by 0.1%.
Within raw materials, there was no variation in the Building subsector (0.0%) compared to the previous month, and the Civil Works subsector recorded a rise of 0.4% in the cost of its raw materials. The year-on-year performance of these two sub-sectors was also positive, but to different degrees: costs of raw materials in Building rose by 2.0%, whilst costs in Civil Works posted a 4.5% rise.
Standing out amongst the prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases, September 2018 on September 2017, are those in the following sectors: Oil refining, with 21.8%; Metallurgy, with 9.0%, and Electricity & Gas, with 3.6%. On the other hand, the sectors that saw the smallest increases in the prices of raw materials over the last twelve months were Rubber & Plastic, and Electronic Material, which both increased by 0.1%, and Non-metal Industry, which was up 0.9%.
