Construction costs in the Basque Country rose 0.1% in February 2018 compared to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, February 2018 on February 2017, costs rose by 0.9%
There was a 0.1% rise in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in February 2018 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month rose by 0.9%, according to EUSTAT data.
With regards to the previous month, there was no variation in labour costs (0.0%) and the cost of raw materials rose by 0.2%.
This February, the Building sub-sector recorded a rise of 0.2% in raw materials and the Civil Works sub-sector a decrease of 0.1%. The year-on-year trends in these two sub-sectors saw positive variations: costs of raw materials in Building were up by 0.6%, whilst costs in Civil Works posted a 0.8% rise.
The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases in February 2018 on February 2017, included those in the following sectors: Metallurgy, with 8.4%, Chemical Industry, up 2.9%; and Metal Products and Manufacture of Furniture with a rise of 1.9%, in both cases. On the other hand, sectors that saw the biggest price reductions in raw materials over the last twelve months include Oil Refining, which was down by 2.3% and Electronic Material and Plastic & Rubber with a decrease of 0.5%, in both cases.
