Industrial prices in the Basque Country decreased by 0.5% in November 2014 with regards to the previous month

They were 0.9% down on the previous year (November 2014 on November 2013)

Industrial prices in the Basque Country decreased by 0.5% in November 2014 with regards to the previous month, according to data prepared by EUSTAT. With these data, the year-on-year rate for November, which indicates the fluctuation in industrial prices over the last twelve months, registered a drop of 0.9%.

A more detailed sectorial analysis shows that the most inflationary branches in November 2014, with regard to the previous month, were Electricity, Gas, Steam & Air Conditioning which rose by 1.2%, Furniture & Other Manufacturing Industries; repair and installation which was up by 0.7% and Food, Beverages & Tobacco which rose by 0.4%. On the other hand, the greatest decreases in prices were seen in the sectors of Coke Plants & Oil Refining, which saw a fall of 4.3%, Extractive Industries which fell by 0.8% and Chemical Industry and Textile, Garments, Leather & Footwear, both down by 0.7%.

In the year-on-year period, from November 2013 to November 2014, the greatest increase in prices occurred within the branches of Electricity, Gas, Steam & Air Conditioning which rose by 2.2%, Manufacture of Computer, Electronic & Optical Products, up by 1.9% and Manufacture of Pharmaceutical Products, where prices rose by 1.5%. Conversely, there were decreases in prices corresponding to the sectors of, among others, Coke Plants and Oil Refining, which fell by 10.8%, Furniture & Other Manufacturing Industries, which dropped by 3.2%; and Extraction Industries, which decreased by 2.6%.

With regards to the classification of goods by economic destination, the price variation in November over the previous month of the large sectorial groups was negative for Energy, whose prices dropped by 1.8%, and for Intermediate Goods which fell by 0.4%. The prices of Equipment Goods, for their part, saw a rise of 0.1% and those of Consumer Goods as a whole rose by 0.2%, as a consequence of the increase in the prices of both Consumer Non-Durables and Consumer Durables, which both rose by 0.2%.

The price variation of these large goods groups were negative over the year-on-year period for Energy, which dropped 5.4%, and Equipment Goods, down 0.4%, whereas Intermediate Goods were up by 0.5%. Consumer Goods as a whole remained stable (0.0%). Among the latter, the prices of Consumer Durables dropped by 0.8%, while Consumer Non-Durables rose by 0.3%.
