Industrial prices experienced no variation in the month of November 2011 in relation to the previous month
They were up by 6.5%, with respect to the previous year
Industrial prices in the Basque Country have experienced no variation (0.0%) in the month of November 2011 when compared to the previous month, according to EUSTAT data. The data shows that the year-on-year rate for November, which indicates the fluctuation in industrial prices over the last twelve months, witnessed growth of 6.5%.
A more detailed sectorial analysis shows that in November 2011 the most inflationary branch, compared to the previous month, was “Coke Plants & Oil Refining” (2.4%), followed by “Electricity, Gas & Steam” (0.9%) and “Chemical Industry” (0.3%). On the other hand, the sectors that posted the greatest decreases in prices were “Textile, Garments, Leather & Footwear” (-1.3%) and “Metallurgy and Metal Products” (-0.9%).
Over the course of the year-on-year period between November 2010 and November 2011, the highest price rises were recorded by “Coke Plants & Oil Refining" (23.7%), “Electricity, Gas & Steam” (23.3%), and “Chemical Industry” (7.7%). On the other hand, the only sector that posted price downturns was "Extraction Industries" (-1.4%).
According to the classification of goods by economic destination, and in relation to the previous month, Energy prices rose by 1.7%, those of Intermediate Goods by 0.1% and those of Equipment Goods by 0.1%. The prices of Consumer Goods as a whole also experienced a fall of 0.1%, due to the fall experienced by Consumer Non-Durables (-0.1%), as Consumer Durables experienced no variation (0.0%).
The price evolution of these large groups of goods increased in all cases over the year-on-year period. Energy prices increased by 23.5%, those of Intermediate Goods by 3.4%, those of Equipment Goods were up 2.3% and there was a 1.8% increase in prices of Consumer Goods. Amongst the latter, the prices of Consumer Non-Durables rose 2.2% whilst Consumer Durables were up by 0.7%.
