In the period included between Passion Week Monday and Easter Friday 73,621 incoming travellers were registered in hostelry establishments within the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, according to data compiled by Eustat. This means 5.2% more incoming travellers, that is to say, almost 4000 people more than one year before.

Registered overnight stays added up to 145,873, which means 4.6% more, that is, 6000 overnight stays more than in the same period of 2006.

The average stay per traveller in hostelry establishments has decreased slightly in comparison with previous periods, going down from 1.99 days per traveller one year ago to 1.98 days in this latest period.

The degree of occupation has gone down in 2.1% with respect to the level attained one year before. This index was 51.83% in 2006 and reaches 50.75% in the same period of 2007.

In terms of Rural Tourism, 4891 incoming travellers were registered, 3.8% less than in the same period of 2006. Overnight stays amounted to 17,485, 14.4% more than one year before. The origin of this better evolution in terms of overnight stays with respect to incoming travellers is due to the increased average length of stay per traveller, which has gone up from 3.01 one year ago to 3.57 days this last Easter. The degree of occupation has experimented a slight increase of 1.7% in Rural Tourism establishments.
