According to data made available by EUSTAT, Construction Costs in the A.C. of the Basque Country registered an increase of 0.3% in the month of June 2005 in comparison to the previous year, raising the inter-annual rate for this month to 5.5%.

In June 2005 labour costs did not change at all (0.0%), while the costs of primary materials registered an increase of 0.4%.

The subsectors of Building and Civil Works registered similar trends, with an increase of 0.4% on the previous month in Building and 0.7% in the cost of primary materials for Civil Works. The inter-annual analysis of these two subsectors reveals that both of them have followed even more similar trends: Building raw materials rose by 5.9% and those of Civil Works increased by 5.6%.

In the month of June the highest increase in prices occurred in primary materials consumed from Petroleum Derivatives (9.3%), Asphalt Products (6.7%), Iron and Steel (1.5%), Extracted dry goods (0.7%) and Baked Clay (0.5%), among others. On the other hand raw materials such as Lime, gypsum and plaster (-3.0%), Electric Energy (-1.7%), Metal Tubing (-0.7%) and Metallic Structures and boilermaking (-0.5%), among others, all fell in price.

Featuring among those prices of primary materials consumed by the sector which have suffered the highest rates of inflation over the last twelve months are: Asphalt Products (42.2%), Petroleum derivatives (28.5%), Iron and Steel (14.8%), Stonemasonry (11.8%) and Metallic Tubes (11.1%). On the other hand there have been inter-annual price falls registered in primary materials such as Glass (-2.5%), Office equipment (-1.8%) and Metallic Structures and boilermaking (-1.4%).
