The Construction Costs General Index in the A.C. of the Basque Country did not change in value in June 2002, according to Eustat data. The inter-annual variation, June 2002 compared to June 2001, sets the increase in costs at 1.7% and the rate for the first six months of the year against the past month of December showed a 2.6% rise.

In June, both raw material and labour costs did not vary at all over the monthly period. However, over the inter-annual period, labour costs registered a 4.0% increase compared with an increase of 0.3% for raw materials.
The subsectors "Building" and "Civil Works" evolved differently in June: raw material costs varied 0.1% for the former and fell 0.3% for the latter. These differences continue in the inter-annual evolution, as raw material costs of these two subsectors reached a rate of 0.3% in "Building" and 0.1% in "Civil Works" in June, against the same month the previous year.
Among the prices of raw material consumed by the sector that decreased most in June 2002 were "Oil by-products" (-4.0%), "Explosives and gas" (-1.1%) and "Artificial cement" (-0.5%), among others.
The inter-annual evolution of prices showed the most significant
price rises in the following products consumed: "Accessories for used machinery"
(4.9%), "Work clothing" (4.7%), "Other metal products" (3.9%) and "Artificial
cement" (3.7%), among others.
