The type of activity of the establishment, company or other economic unit in which the employed individual exercises his/her main occupation on the reference date. Unemployed individuals who had worked previously refers to the activity of the company or establishment where they last took up employment. If the company or establishment had more than one activity, only the main one was recorded; the main activity being that which provided the greatest income or, failing that, in which the majority of the individuals were employed.

The data thus obtained were classified according to the National Classification of Economic Activities of 2009 (CNAE-2009).
