Methodological note. EIS: SMEs introducing product innovations as % of SMEs

Product innovation is a key ingredient to innovation as they can create new markers and improve competitiveness. Higher shares of product innovators reflect a higher level of innovation activities.

The indicator is obtained as a quotient.

Numerator:

Number of Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who introduced at least one product innovation either new to the enterprise or new to their market.

Denominator:

Total number of SMEs.
