The main aim of this operation is to provide information on livestock and aquaculture numbers and production. In particular, regarding the slaughter of livestock and the destination of the meat (direct consumption or industrial consumption), as well as the geographical origin of the livestock in all abattoirs operating in the Basque Country. Furthermore, information is gathered regarding other livestock production (wool, honey, wax, eggs and manure) and livestock numbers according to age and use (cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, poultry - laying hens - and beehives), milk production and initial destination of the milk, hatcheries and livestock transactions and destinations. The geographical destination of the livestock will be specified and the purpose for which they are sold, whether for slaughter or alive or for fattening during the reference year. In relation to aquaculture, the aim is to gather and in turn supply economic and productivity information on the fishing-related sector in the Basque Country. This latter statistical operation serves in turn for preparing the Directory of Aquaculture centres in the Basque Country.
