The need to typify the tourist industry and evaluate its contribution to economic activity as a whole justifies the statistical operation known as the Tourism satellite account. It analyses tourism as an economic phenomenon from the viewpoints of both Supply and Demand, produces the main sector macro-figures for the Basque Country, and calculates the evolution of its weight in relation to Gross Domestic Product at market prices.
