CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. MAY 2025
Construction costs in the Basque Country rose by 0.3% in May 2025
In year-on-year terms, May 2025 compared to May 2024, costs increased by 1.1%
The Construction Costs Index in the Basque Country rose by 0.3% in May 2025 in relation to the previous month, according to Eustat data. Costs increased by 1.1% compared to the same month of 2024.
Costs remained the same in Building and increased by 1.5% in Civil Engineering. In relation to May 2024, prices increased by 0.8% in Building and 2.5% in Civil Engineering.
Compared to the previous month, April 2025, costs of raw materials rose by 0.4%, while labour costs remained constant. In year-on-year terms, costs of raw materials increased by 1.3%, while labour costs rose by 0.4%.
In month-on-month terms, the cost of raw materials remained constant in the Building sector and increased by 2.0% in the Civil Engineering sector. In their year-on-year evolution, costs of raw materials in the Building sector increased by 0.9% and those in Civil Engineering rose by 3.2%.

The prices of the main raw materials used by the Construction sector that recorded the greatest year-on-year increases in May 2025 were those in the following sub sectors: Extraction Industries, up 7.0%; and Manufacture of Electrical Material and Equipment with a rise of 4.8%. In contrast, the cost of raw materials used in the Coke Plants & Oil Refining sector fell by 14.5%.
