ADVANCE QUARTERLY ECONOMIC ACCOUNTS (ACET). IV/2024
The GDP of the Basque Country increased by 2.1% overall in 2024
During the year the number of jobs rose by 1.8%
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country rose by 2.1% during 2024 in relation to 2023, according to estimates for the Advance Quarterly Accounts made by Eustat. Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, increased by 1.8% during the year, which meant the creation of more than 17,000 jobs.
An analysis of the relevant economic information available at the time this Advance was prepared reveals that value added grew in all economic sectors in 2024, although at a slower rate than during the previous year, with the exception of the Trade, Hospitality and Transport sector and that of Public Administration, Education, Health and Social Services, where growth accelerated this year.
As regards the fourth quarter of 2024, following a 0.4% rise in GDP in relation to the previous quarter, the increase in respect of the same quarter of the previous year is estimated at 1.9%.
Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, rose by 0.4% in this last quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter. Furthermore, in relation to the same quarter of the previous year, estimated growth is 1.6%.
On 7 March Eustat will publish the disaggregated estimates of GDP and employment in its Quarterly Economic Accounts for the fourth quarter of 2024, after incorporating the relevant information that was not available when these Advance Quarterly Accounts were prepared.
