ADVANCE QUARTERLY ECONOMIC ACCOUNTS (ACET). II/2024

The GDP of the Basque Country rose by 0.4% and employment increased by 0.6% in the second quarter of 2024

Compared to the second quarter of 2023, both GDP and employment rose by 1.8%

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country posted an increase of 0.4% in the second quarter of 2024 in relation to the preceding quarter, according to estimates for the Advance Quarterly Economic Accounts made by Eustat. Compared to the second quarter of 2023, there was a 1.8% increase in GDP in the Basque Country.

The relevant economic information available at the time this Advance was prepared reveals that the year-on-year growth observed in the second quarter of the year in the economy of the Basque Country is mainly the result of the performance in the services sector.

Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, rose by 0.6% in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter. Furthermore, in relation to the same quarter of the previous year, estimated growth is 1.8%.

On 24 September, Eustat will publish the disaggregated estimates of GDP and Employment in its Quarterly Economic Accounts for the second quarter of 2024, after incorporating the relevant economic information that was not available when these Advance Quarterly Accounts were prepared.
