GDP and employment in the Basque Country increased by 0.5% in the first quarter of 2024
In relation to the first quarter of 2023, there was 1.6% growth in GDP and 2% growth in employment
In the first quarter of 2024, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country was up 0.5% compared to the preceding quarter, according to estimates for the Advance Quarterly Accounts made by Eustat. In relation to the first quarter of 2023, there was a 1.6% increase in GDP in the Basque Country.
The relevant economic information available at the time this Advance was prepared reveals that the year-on-year growth observed in the first quarter of the year in the economy of the Basque Country is mainly the result of the performance in the services sector.
Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, also rose by 0.5% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter. Furthermore, in relation to the same quarter of the previous year, estimated growth is 2.0%.
On 7 June, Eustat will publish the disaggregated estimates of GDP and Employment in its Quarterly Accounts for the first quarter of 2024, after incorporating the relevant economic information that was not available when these Advance Quarterly Accounts were prepared.
