ADVANCE QUARTERLY ACCOUNTS (ACET). III/2023
Growth in GDP and employment reached 1.6% in the third quarter of 2023
In relation to the second quarter of 2023, GDP rose by 0.2% and employment by 0.4%
In the third quarter of 2023 the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country increased by 1.6% in relation to the same quarter of the previous year, according to estimates for the Advance Quarterly Accounts made by Eustat. In relation to the second quarter of 2023, GDP in the Basque Country rose by 0.2%.
The relevant economic information available at the time this Advance was prepared points the main sectors of the economy of the Basque Country performing differently in terms of activity, although as a whole the evolution remains positive.
Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, rose by 0.4% in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. This is the ninth consecutive quarter with quarter-on-quarter growth in employment. Furthermore, in relation to the same quarter of the previous year, estimated growth is 1.6%.
On 1 December Eustat will publish the disaggregated estimates of GDP and employment in its Quarterly Accounts for the third quarter of 2023, after incorporating the relevant information that was not available when these Advance Quarterly Accounts were prepared.
