ADVANCE QUARTERLY ACCOUNTS (ACET). II /2022
The GDP of the Basque Country rose by 0.9% and employment increased by 0.8% in quarter-on-quarter terms in the second quarter of 2022
Compared to the second quarter of 2021, GDP growth reached 4.3% and employment 3.7%
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country posted an increase of 0.9% in the second quarter of 2022, compared to the preceding quarter, according to estimates for the Advance Quarterly Accounts made by Eustat. In contrast, with respect to the second quarter of 2021, the GDP of the Basque Country saw a 4.3% rise.
The relevant economic information available at the time this Advance was prepared suggests a general increase in activity in the main sectors of the economy of the Basque Country, although at a slightly slower rate than that estimated in the previous quarter.
Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, rose by 0.8% compared to the previous quarter. This is the sixth consecutive quarter with quarter-on-quarter growth in employment. In relation to the same quarter of the previous year, the recovery in terms of the number of job posts was estimated at 3.7%.
On 22 September, Eustat will publish the disaggregated estimates of GDP and Employment in its Quarterly Accounts for the second quarter of 2022, after incorporating the relevant information that was not available when these Advance Quarterly Accounts were prepared, as well as the re-estimations of the 2020 and 2021 annual macro-magnitudes.
