CONSTRUCTION INDEX. I/2022
Production of the construction sector in the Basque Country rose by 7.2% in the first quarter of 2022
In relation to the previous quarter, growth in current prices stood at 6%
Activity in the Construction sector in the Basque Country in the first quarter of 2022 was 7.2% higher in current prices than that of the same quarter of the previous year, according to Eustat data. In relation to the previous quarter, the increase in activity rose 6% in current prices, once corrected for seasonal effects.
The year-on-year upturn at current prices in this quarter is explained both by the behaviour of the Building sub-sector, which grew 5.5% in year-on-year terms, and, especially, that of Civil Works, which this quarter grew by 20.9% in relation to the previous year.
A comparison between the activity of the sector in this first quarter of 2022 and that of the previous quarter, once corrected for seasonal effects and at current prices, reveals an increase of 6%. Building posted a positive quarter-on-quarter evolution of 4.8% and Civil Works rose in relation to the previous quarter by 14%.
