The GDP of the Basque Country rose by 0.8% and employment increased by 0.6% in the third quarter of 2021

Compared to the third quarter of 2020, GDP recovered by 3.8% and employment by 3.2%

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country posted an increase of 0.8% in the third quarter of 2021, compared to the preceding quarter, according to estimates for the Advance Quarterly Accounts made by Eustat. This is the fifth quarter in a row with positive quarter-on-quarter variation rates.

In contrast, with respect to the third quarter of 2020, GDP in the Basque Country increased by 3.8%.

Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, rose by 0.6% compared to the previous quarter, the fifth consecutive quarter with positive variations. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, recovery was estimated at 3.2%.

On 3 December 2020 EUSTAT will publish the disaggregated estimates of GDP and employment in its Quarterly Accounts for the third quarter of 2021, after incorporating the relevant information that was not available when these Advance Quarterly Accounts were prepared.
