ADVANCE QUARTERLY ACCOUNTS (ACET) III/2019
The GDP of the Basque Country registered 2.0% year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2019
Employment creation sustained a year-on-year growth of 1.6%
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country posted an increase of 2.0% in the third quarter of 2019, compared to the third quarter of 2018, according to estimates for the Advance Quarterly Accounts made by EUSTAT. This year-on-year growth is two tenths lower than the growth estimated in the previous quarter.
Once corrected for calendar and seasonal effects, in quarter-on-quarter terms, GDP rose by 0.4% compared to the second quarter of 2019, two tenths lower than that estimated in the previous quarter.
From the perspective of supply, the positive year-on-year growth of the third quarter of 2019 is due to the positive performance of all sectors, even with a certain deceleration in Industry and Construction.
Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, increased by 1.6% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, one tenth lower than the growth observed in the previous quarter. Quarter-on-quarter growth was estimated at 0.4%, also one tenth lower than the increase observed in the previous quarter.
On 02 December 2019 EUSTAT will publish the disaggregated estimates of GDP and Employment in its Quarterly Accounts for the third quarter of 2019, after incorporating the relevant information that was not available when these Advance Quarterly Accounts were prepared.
