The Construction sector in the Basque Country grew by 4.1% in the second quarter of 2019
Accumulated growth in the first quarter of 2019 was 5.1%
Construction activity in the Basque Country registered a year-on-year nominal upturn of 4.1% in the second quarter of 2019, in homogeneous terms of the working calendar, according to data prepared by EUSTAT.
The rise in the Construction sector in this quarter was due to the positive performance of both the Building subsector, which registered a year-on-year upturn of 4.4%, and the Civil Works subsector, with an increase of 2.5%.
Once corrected for seasonal effects, in the second quarter of 2019 the Construction sector grew by 2.5% compared to the first quarter of 2019.
In quarter-on-quarter terms, if the activity of the sector in the second quarter of 2019 is compared to the previous quarter, the Building subsector posted an upturn of 1.9%, whereas the Civil Works subsector rose by 7.8%.
In terms of the total for the first quarter of 2019, the Construction sector of the Basque Country was up 5.1% on the same period of 2018.
Employment in the Construction sector saw an increase of 1.5% in the second quarter of 2019 compared to the first quarter of 2019.
