CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX, JUNE 2019
Construction costs in the Basque Country rose by 0.4% in June 2019 compared to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, costs increased by 1.7%
There was a 0.4% rise in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in June 2019 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month rose by 1.7%, according to EUSTAT data.
With regards to the previous month, there was no variation in labour costs (0.0%) and the cost of raw materials was up 0.5%.
This June, the Building sub-sector recorded a rise of 0.6% in raw materials and the Civil Works sub-sector an increase of 0.3%. The year-on-year trends in these two sub-sectors also saw positive variations: costs of raw materials in Building were up 1.6%, whilst costs in Civil Works posted a 1.0% rise.
The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases in June 2019 on June 2018 included those in the following sectors: Electricity & Gas, with 9.8%, Non-metal Industry, up 4.4% and the Timber Industry, with an increase of 3.1%. On the other hand, the sectors that saw reductions in prices of raw materials over the last twelve months were Metallurgy, which was down 3.9%, Oil Refining, with a decrease of 2.3%, and Rubber and Plastics, with a fall of 0.2%.
