CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX. JULY 2019
Construction costs in the Basque Country fell 0.2% in July 2019 in relation to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, costs increased by 1.4%
There was a 0.2% drop in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in July 2019 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month rose by 1.4%, according to EUSTAT data.
With regards to the previous month, there was no variation in labour costs (0.0%) and the cost of raw materials fell by 0.2%.
This July, the Building sub-sector recorded a fall of 0.2% in raw materials and the Civil Works sub-sector a decrease of 0.3%. The year-on-year trends in these two sub-sectors saw positive variations: costs of raw materials in Building were up by 1.2%, whilst costs in Civil Works posted a 0.8% rise.
The prices of raw materials consumed by sector that recorded the biggest increases in July 2019 on July 2018 included those in the following sectors: Electricity & Gas, with 6.9%, Non-metal Industry, up 4.1% and Electric Material, with an increase of 2.5%. On the other hand, the sectors that saw the largest reductions in prices of raw materials over the last twelve months were Metallurgy which was down 1.5%, Electronic Material with a decrease of 1.4% and Oil Refining with a fall of 1.1%.
