CONSTRUCTION COSTS INDEX, NOVEMBER 2018
Construction costs in the Basque Country fell by 0.2% in November 2018 compared to the previous month
Compared to the previous year, November 2018 on November 2017, costs rose by 2.1%
There was a 0.2% drop in Construction Costs in the Basque Country in November 2018 compared to the previous month, whilst the year-on-year rate for the same month rose by 2.1%, according to data provided by EUSTAT.
With regards to the previous month, there was no variation in labour costs (0.0%) and the cost of raw materials dropped by 0.3%.
Within raw materials, the Building subsector fell by 0.2% compared to the previous month, and the Civil Works subsector recorded a decrease of 0.8% in the cost of its raw materials. The year-on-year performance of these two sub-sectors was positive, but to different degrees: costs of raw materials in Building rose by 2.0%, whilst costs in Civil Works posted a 3.1% rise.
Standing out amongst the prices of raw materials consumed by the sector that recorded the biggest increases, November 2018 on November 2017, are those in the following sectors: Oil refining, with 11.2%; Metallurgy, with 4.9%, and Chemical Industry and Electricity & Gas, with 4.2% in both cases. On the other hand, the sectors that saw the smallest increases in the prices of raw materials consumed over the last twelve months were Rubber & Plastic, which repeated the figures for the previous year (0.0%), Electronic Material, up 0.4%, and Electrical Material with an increase of 0.7%.
