ADVANCE QUARTERLY ACCOUNTS (ACET) III/2018
The GDP of the Basque Country grew at an annual rate of 2.6% in the third quarter of 2018
Employment continued to perform positively with growth of 2.0%
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country posted a year-on-year growth of 2.6% in the third quarter of 2018, once corrected for calendar and seasonal effects, according to the advance data prepared by EUSTAT. This growth is three tenths lower than in the second quarter of 2018.
Compared to the previous quarter, the variation rate was 0.5%. This quarter-on-quarter growth was one tenth below that estimated in the previous quarter.
From the perspective of supply, the year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter growth of the third quarter of 2018 is primarily due to the good aggregated performance of the services and construction sectors, which largely compensated for the weakness observed in the primary sector and the deceleration registered in industry.
Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, increased by 2.0% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, one tenth lower than the growth observed in the previous quarter. Quarter-on-quarter growth was 0.4%, two tenths lower than the growth estimated in the previous quarter.
