ADVANCE QUARTERLY ACCOUNTS (ACET). II/2018
The GDP of the Basque Country grew at an annual rate of 2.8% in the second quarter of 2018
Employment continued to perform positively with growth of 2.1%
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Basque Country posted a year-on-year growth of 2.8% in the second quarter of 2018, once corrected for calendar and seasonal effects, according to the advance data prepared by EUSTAT. This growth is three tenths lower than in the first quarter of 2018.
With regards to the previous quarter, the quarter-on-quarter variation rate was 0.6%, two tenths lower than in the previous quarter.
From the perspective of supply, the year-on-year and quarter-on quarter growth of the second quarter of 2018 is due to the good aggregated performance of all sectors, except the primary sector, although the rates are slightly lower than in the previous quarter, in both Industry and in the overall services sector.
Employment, measured as full-time equivalent jobs, increased by 2.1% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, one tenth lower than in the previous quarter. Quarter-on-quarter growth was 0.6%.
